PACE OCTOBER SESSION
 

The autumn Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will be held on October 4-8 in Strasbourg.

Macedonian Prime Minister Gruevski will also address the Session on October 7 as a special guest of the chairing country, whereas, acting in the capacity of Chairman of the CoE Council of Ministers, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Milošoski will deliver his regular address and present the quarterly report on the work of the CoM on October 4.

A ceremony marking the 60th Anniversary of the adoption of the European Convention on Human Rights will also be organized as part of the Session.

The following relevant topics falling under the jurisdiction of the CoE are planned to be considered and discussed at the October Session: the situation of the Roma with a special emphasis on the recent developments in certain countries related to this issue, combating extremism and the rights of women (with a special focus on the right of women to access to medical care). Furthermore, the participants at the Session will deliberate upon several reports relating to the respect for the rights of children, the prevention of child abuse, as well as reports on the functioning of the democratic institutions in certain CoE member states, etc.

A new Secretary-General of CoE Parliamentary Assembly will also be elected at the Session and there is also a possibility that PACE Deputy Presidents will also be elected, as well as judges at the European Court of Human Rights from Estonia, Greece and Portugal.

MFA Milošoski will also take part in the working lunch with representatives of several CoE institutions, hosted by Secretary-General Jagland.
At the event’s margins, MFA Milošoski will hold several bilateral meetings, including meetings with the MFA of the Federal Republic of Germany, Westerwelle, as well as with the MP at the German Bundestag, Johann Wadephful.

Prime Minister Gruevski will meet high-ranking officials of the CoE.
